After each use, we need to clean the building we meet in. We've struggled over how to handle this. If we hire someone, then tuition goes up. If we use volunteers, sometimes the same people end up doing it over and over again.
This year, instead of charging a cleaning fee, we will add a few dollars to the tuition of each class.
How it Works
#1. A few dollars from each class tuition goes towards paying those who clean the building. This session there is no separate cleaning fee, as there has been in times past.
#2. Each time the building is cleaned, there is $30 available to pay for it.
#3. Before classes start, a cleaning calendar will be made available online and in the building. You will receive an invitation to join our google calendar in the email. You may sign up at the building or online, whichever is more convenient for you. A family can sign up to clean on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons, up to 3 families per date. Families can sign up for as many slots as they'd like to on a first-come, first serve basis. Each family that cleans will earn part of the cleaning money we collect. For example, if 3 families sign up to clean on a particular date then each family will earn $10. If only 2 families sign up, it will take a little longer, but each family will earn $15.
#4. Cleaning the building: When only one family cleans, it generally takes 1 to 1.5 hours. There are cleaning supplies and a check-off list at the building. Some items that need to be cleaned: Sweep floors, wipe glass, take out garbage, tidy bathrooms, vacuum basement, wipe counters/cupboards, collect lost and found, etc. Children are welcome to help, but we do ask that there is at least 1 adult per family helping out.
#5. The cleaning lists/schedules will be posted in the Keystone supply room in Provo, or cupboard in Pleasant Grove. After cleaning, each family is reponsible for marking the calendar to show that they did indeed show up and clean. If you miss cleaning on one of your days, you will not be paid, and you'll be removed from any other dates you've signed up for (the opportunity to clean and get paid will go to someone else.)
#6. At the end of the session, the cleaning coordinator will calculate how much each family has earned and ask if you want a tuition credit or a check.
How to Sign Up to Clean
You can sign up at the building on the sign up sheet, or do it online as per instructions below:
Go to www.google.com. Sign in as keystonecleaning@gmail.com, with password keystonearts. Click on "more" at the top, and select calendar. Click on the day you want to clean and type your name.
