Age Categories
Age categories for classes are flexible. We make age categories as general guidelines so you know where your child will best fit in. Please try to take in social concerns as well as academics when deciding where to place your child. Teachers may contact parents if they feel their child should be in a different class.
Division I: Ages 4-7 - Children not really ready for more formal academics - TJED Core phase. Younger children may be allowed with teacher approval or parental supervision.
Division II: Ages 7-9 - Children more ready for formal academics. Can read and write, but not necessarily extremely fluent in those areas yet - TJED Love of Learning phase
Division III: Ages 9-12 - Children ready to learn. Can read and write, mostly fluently (although may not write a whole report.) - TJED Love of Learning phase
Division IV: Ages 12+ - Students ready for more of an academic challenge - TJED Transition to Scholar or Scholar phase (may depend on the class.)
Homework: While most classes will not require homework, there may be some built-in accountability factors such as having children do presentations, compile a notebook, etc. Division IV students should count on completing homework each week.
